Madhur Bhandarkar

He started out as the owner of a video library. Then he made his first film Chandni Bar and there has been no looking back for him.

Vijay Anand's Guide changed the scenario of the film industry and filmmaking. Till today Indiatimes Movies ranks this film amongst the Top 25.
Govind Nihalani's Ardh Satya was a critically acclaimed movie, which set a new landmark in Indian cinema. This promoted the trend that money as well as awards can be earned with unknown names and a small budget.
Manoj Kumar's Roti Kapada Aur Makaan was one of the top grossers of 1974, and a socially relevant film. Manoj Kumar films are interesting as he usually has a message for one and all.
Manmohan Desai is my all time favourite and he is one of the golden directors who had a special working style. His Sachaa Jhutha is about two people, a simple villager and a crook both of who are identical to look at. This set the trend of double roles.
Aa Gale Lag Jaa is a very bold subject and it set the trend for future films such as Raja Hindustani and Akele Hum Akele Tum.
Parvarish was the beginning of the lost and found theme and also created the winning combination of Amitabh Bachchan and Vinod Khanna.
Dharam-Veer is a masterpiece, which also sets the trends of separated and reunited theme.
Amar Akbar Anthony is again a masterpiece. This is also based on lost and found theme but was the first film to be made around three religions.
Last my film Chandni Bar, on reality also changed the trend of small budget film breaking records at the box office.
